Why do our armpits smell bad when we sweat, but not our butts?!

Question: Why do our armpits smell bad when we sweat, but not our butts?
Since it's not actually the sweat that smells, but the bacteria that thrives on the high-fat sweat that we produce around our armpits, chest, and genital areas, why is that only our armpits seem to smell? Would it not be logical that our bum would emit the most foul odor instead?

Answers:

the other answers don't really help, it is indirectly because of the sweat as well, it collects in those areas and they are also warm so bacteria find it ideal to live their, like your sinuses... Nice to think your genitalia and your nose are very similar... The reason your buttocks smells less might be the fact that there is nothing that it creates a kind of pocket. if you for example kept your arms straight up all day tehy would probably smell less. Granted people would probably look at you even weirder then. Also the bacteria in your rectum are contained by your gluteals (your butt cheeks) and therefore don't emit smells as much.

it most likely does, just you don't smell it because it is not as close to your body as your armpit, and is covered by your clothing. while your armpit is too, because it is so close and you are constantly raising and moving your arm, you smell the odor much more than on your butt

the only way to test this hypothesis correct is if, next time you work out/sweat, to bend down and smell your own butt......... if you would like to do this be my guest

butts always smell...it just seems that way because its covered and no one faces your butt when they talk to you

Great Question!!
i shave my pitts, seems to decrease the smell

I don't have the answer to that but google does...
