How does age affect hearing?!

Question: How does age affect hearing?
I read somewhere that after age 25 you cannot listen to anything higher than 15 KHz.

Is that true? Where can I find such information. Google is not getting it...

I'm 23 and I can still listen to 19 KHz.

Answers:

Huh?

Aging.

EDIT: OK, felt bad about the wisecrack. I googled these words:
age hearing frequency

One site it hit on was: http://www.roger-russell.com/hearing/hea…

I think that might have your info.

Age related hearing loss (Presbycusis) does involve a decreasing ability to hear high-pitched sounds.

There is not a strict relation of "at 23, you can't hear this freqency". There is a high variability among people, mostly due to differences in noise exposure.

People who go to rock concerts regularly will likely have more high frequency hearing loss than people who don't.
