I'm having trouble breathing?!

Question: I'm having trouble breathing?
Today It was actually warm out so me and my dad went running for the first time in months. We walked for about 1.5 miles then ran up 3 pretty steep hills. By the time I got to the top of the 3rd hill I was gasping with everything in me for breath and my chest was burning. After about 10 minutes of sitting on the ground, I stood up and tried to walk but my legs and arms were shaking so bad. It became hard to focus because I was dizzy and my ears were stopped up. Also, I felt like I was going to throw up. I've never felt this terrible before. It was far more then just feeling exhausted. I walk a hour a day, along with other exercises. I'm 19, 5 3" and weigh 115 lbs. I'm on my period at the moment so could that have anything to do with it?

It's been almost 6 hours and I still feel horrible and my breathing has become worse. It feels like something is pushing down on my chest. Has anyone ever felt like this before after running a lot?

Answers:

YEAH its your period. remember this forever: on your period your supposed to rest!! never put your body through that on your period!!

you become extra dehydrated, and you lose a TON of important minerals while on your period. please eat some food w/ iron in it, and drink some water, and get extra sleep. I take a prenatal vitamin on my period, it helps w/ energy and not losing so many minerals. you're body is extremely weak on your period, especially since you did all that! Now go drink water, eat some proteins and minerals, and go lay down! Silly girl!

There is a possibility that it might be asthma induced. DO you have/had asthma? or anyone in your family have it? IF it has continued for 6 hours I strongly suggest that you go to the ER.

Call a nurse help line or go to the hospital. You need to get someone to drive or call 911.

Sounds like you over-exerted yourself. It was also warm, likely the pollens were high and affecting your sinuses and you might have been dehydrated.

So, you're saying this never happens to you...you've let the breathing problem go on for 6 hours...and it hasn't occurred to you that you might want to go to the ER instead of talking on the internet?

Your 19...take care of yourself and go to the ER. It could be anything or it could be nothing.

The internet isn't a place for medical diagnosis.
