I black out when I stand up...why?!

Question: I black out when I stand up...why?
When I stand up (mostly after watching tv and being still for at least 30 minutes) I see my vision turn black and I have to kneel or get low because I am afraid of falling. I want to know why this happens it usually goes away after 30 seconds, but I have hurt myself several times. Once I ran into a cabinet and bruised my nose, woke up under a table (scary), and just today I fell really hard on my knees. I am very healthy but have slightly high blood pressure. Thanks.

Hello. That's odd that you mention high blood pressure, because i have low blood pressure, and the same thing happens to me. When i asked the doctor, he said low blood pressure causes that. Other people in my family have low blood pressure, and they feel faint ( and have actually passed out ), just by getting out of a chair. I make sure that i get up very slowly, instead of just jumping up, and that seems to help me. If you haven't already, you should probably see a doctor about this, because there are some medical conditions that can cause this to happen also, I found out i had Thyroid disease, and since taking medication for it, i rarely feel faint anymore. It can also happen from heart conditions. Not trying to scare you, but it's something that should be ruled out, Take care.

Vertigo or anemia i would guess.
