How to tell if you have a hemorrhoid?!

Question: How to tell if you have a hemorrhoid?
K, this is really embarressing. I use laxatives everyday (the doctor said it was fine) so I can go to the bathroom and some times I still don`t go for a few days. When ever I do it`s like diarrhea but not a lot of it. My butt has been hurting REALLY bad the last few days, it`s unbearable. I also haven`t went in the past few days. Well, now I`m pretty sure I have a hemorrhoid but not for sure. So what causes it? How can you tell? What are the symptoms? Also if you know what I can do about that would be great. Thanks!

well lets tackle this 1 question at a time.
a hemorrhoid is a swollen vein in your rectum or anus, they are causes by pressure in the area, be it from lifting, straining while using the bathroom, or weight gain and pregnancy. Preparation H suppositories are good for internal hemorrhoids and tucks pads help to reduce the burning and itching associated with the external hemorrhoids.

many times they are visible, and they can feel like you have a pea sitting in your rear. It can cause itching and a localized pain feeling. You can see blood in your stool if one pops and it will be bright red. the closer to the opening it is the more visible and uncomfortable they can become, so visit your doctor. you can use shrinking agents but the risk of infection if they continue to grow or break is very high so have a professional examination. Good Luck

Hey Nicole,

I once had a gf who had a hemorrhoid problem (though I never had this problem). The only way you can check is if you put your finger in that area and see if you have any bumps or unusual surfaces. The best way to get rid of it is use ointments like Preparation H.

Also, your doctor is wrong about laxatives. Never use laxatives long term. It can cause problems like dependence. It can also make constipation worse.

I hope this helps.
