Answers:

Hi Sarah, your grandfather was trying to scare you, just like all the rest of us have to no avail apparently.

500ml of vodka contains 20 units of alcohol when your daily safety limit is 3, your liver will fail.

Well, your Grandfather is trying to scare you in his own way....an old fashioned way I must say. But,none the less...he cares about you,and clearly doesn't want you drinking.
Alcohol does way more damage than you or anyone, especially teenagers, and younger adults might think.Alcohol/liquor can cause liver damage, and kidney damage. But,liver damage can be irreversible when alcohol is abused over a long period of time, and death from liver disease occurs thousands if not hundreds of thousands of times a day here in the US...from alcohol related illness/disease.That doesn't include drinking and driving accidents/deaths per day! I'm only explaining the facts is all!

So,when it comes down to your specific case....your kidneys/liver are and will not be falling out ant time soon. But,if you continue to drink alcohol in excessive amounts, and for a long period of time....Most likely you will end up with liver failure/disease after an extended period of time...many years.Facts!
Take care!

You got me good Sarah since I mistakenly answered with a very detailed good answer on another question you asked the other day about drinking. My radar must have been off that day because I didn't realize it was you with another new account name. Hopefully, I won't make that mistake again.

To answer this question, I think your grandfather might be right in your case, but it's best to ask your doctor this question to give him/her a good laugh.

Your liver and kidneys can not rip off. They are inside your body. You probably stressed them a little, but you are going to be fine. He was just scaring you. A few years ago I drank more than you regularly and all of my liver function tests lately have been fine.

Yes drinking affects your liver but if you stop drinking your liver will repair itself and be normal.

He was right of course, just as you've been told so many times
