Staying up all night before school?!

Question: Staying up all night before school?
So I stay up all night quite a lot lately. Specifically, two-three nights a week now. This has been going on for a while. No, I don't have insomnia, just a busy schedule and vigorous classes in school. The thing is, I don't mind it. Oddly enough, I like late night studying. I just feel horrible and irritable the next day. My eyes hurt and I feel less attentive. I don't know how this will affect my performance in school and overall health. I do look forward to making up for my lack of sleep on the weekends though!

So my question: In terms of health, are my sleeping habits bad for me? Do I do this too often? I literally have no idea how or if this will affect me! I'm 16 and a sophomore in high school, if this piece of information is of any value to the question.

Girrrl I feel you. I think the problem is in the lack of consistency. I read several articles about different sleeping cycles you can try, and different times to wake up depending on when you go to sleep in order to acquire energy. Your sleeping habits are unhealthy, and a lack of sleep can actually lead to a lot of problems. I personally sleep only 5 hours a night, going to bed at 1 am and waking up at 6 am. Go to this site I promise after a while you'll get used to it and it'll work wonders! http://sleepyti.me/
Good luck!

You SOUND like an intelligent person.. I'm 16 too, and i know what it's like. I used to stay up allllllll night then feel horrible the next day, so I stopped that. Now I go to sleep at about 11, maximum midnight, and the next day I feel fine.
Also, you need sleep in order to work the next day, so catching up on sleep on weekends will have no effect on your school performance. In order to have a high standard of school performance you've got to sleep early the night before school, not the weekend after!

Sleeping during noon time is a bad habit because it reduces our concentration power and during school days it will cause damages in our studies.
during school days keep a time table for your activities.Reduce your sleeping time from about 8.30 pm to 5 or 6 am.
thus you can control your sleeping habit.

If you want to be succesful or get high grades do not stay up late unless you're really using tht time finishng up schoolworks. u cant focus during daytime if you u hve insufficient amount of sleep.

I have been to school after an all-nighter a few times. It's like going to school drunk. If you're doing well in school, then it seems to be working for you. However, as far as your health, you can seriously mess up the wiring in your brain if you aren't getting proper rest. I know from experience. I developed social anxiety and derealization as a result of improper sleep habits. The damage shouldn't be irreversible but if you start to feel funny, you might want to quit the all-nighters. Find some way to get your work done sooner or cut back on the after-school activities. Your mental health is more important than anything; if you lose it you'll lose the ability to perform in school and to make commitments to clubs and sports teams.
