I have a phobia about going to the GP?!

I have a phobia about going to the GP?

I hate going and avoid it at all costs
when I do go they always fob you off with youve got a virius
I have had a bad chest for about 5 weeks but wont go as feel they will say its a virius but I know I need antibiotics now
Have two small children my phobia is affected them now as I wont take them when I know really I should again its the viriual thing that puts me off
is this a common phobia ?

I wouldn't say its common but I can understand what you are saying. I always "put off" going to the doctor. I have to be really sick or hurting for me to go. I would say deep down I really don't want to know if something is wrong with me or I say to myself I can't be sick because I have to take care of everybody else.
As far as my kids ....that's another story. I ALWAYS take them if they need to go (maybe more often than needed) and for annual check-ups too.
