Sleep Problems?!

Sleep Problems?

I have had alot of trouble sleeping and would just like some suggestions on to help me get to sleep and stay asleep.
Please dont suggest medications because im only 16 and my mother is against meds, so any techniques or tips natural stuff anything would be a big hepl thank you.

Ive tried such things as not drinking beverages that are high in caffene all day ive tried to sooth myself but my mind tends to race all day long and into the night i need something to calm me down mentally. thanks!

Meds aren't a good way to go anyway. They may help get you to sleep, but you don't get that restful REM sleep when you take meds. Here are some tips:

-- Cut caffeine to a minimum (preferably morning only)
-- If you smoke, quit
-- Keep the sugary foods and drinks to a minimum at night
-- Don't watch TV before going to bed
-- Try dimming the lights an hour before bed
-- You may also want to try meditation or hypnosis before bed
-- Don't do any type of workout after 6:00 PM
-- Try to go to bed right around the same time every night
-- If noises awaken you easily, try sleeping with a fan
-- Do whatever you need to do to make your bedroom and your bed comfortable

Here are some herbal supplements that may help you get a better night's sleep (you can get them at GNC or Vitamin World, and you don't have to be 18 to buy them):

-- Melatonin
-- Valerian Root (with or without hops)
-- Holy Basil Extract
