What do you do when your back is killing you? Pain reliever?!

Question:

What do you do when your back is killing you? Pain reliever?

Answers:

It really does depend on how you have acquired this pain, as Shonda says it could be due to a number of issues so getting checked out by the doc and thinking about what you have been doing recently is a good idea.

Many back problems are due to poor postures, leading to stretching supporting ligaments etc. Try short term pain relief, advil or something that agrees with you, heat (baths or pads) and when this bout of pain has settled think about the postures you adopt and try to gain some alignment. Visit as physical therapist for this.

Sit with your bottom as far back in your seat as possible and don't have your arms too far i front of you (like reaching forwards to type).
Longer term work on your core stabilisers is the way forward, pilates, yoga, swiss ball work wil really help, but this is no quick fix and lifestyle change will help you for life.

Good luck with this and remember that quick fixes only sort the symptoms, not the root cause.
