Are these pills a scam?!

Question:

Are these pills a scam?

I saw an ad for these pills in a newspaper http://www.wisdom-health.com/reason.html... they promised that children will be guranteed to grow 3-15cm taller that parents. These pills are quite expensive. about 50 cents per pill and 3 pills are to be taken daily for many years. Do you believe it? Would you buy them?

Answers:

I would never buy them, and I do not believe their claims.

There are certain growth hormones which can be given to either stimulate or block growth in a human, and which are given to children who are growing at times for special reasons, but they are all prescription only hormones, and not available widely.

The other problem with this particular product is that it is an Asian product. I have no problems with Asians or Asian products, but Asian natural remedies are well known for not producing results when they make extravagant and silly claims. Read the text carefully, and you find that along with horrible grammatical mistakes, they make some very silly claims about what their product can do. They say the product was developed in the US, but I kind of suspect that the theories were developed in the US, because otherwise the product would be marketed widely here, rather than being marketed for the Asian market.

Looking at the ingredients, I can tell you that you would be just as well off to give a child a good multivitamin as those pills. Good nutrition will help a child attain their ideal height as long as there are no medical conditions to impede growth. No supplement, especially not one with ground up pituitary glands in it, is going to help with that.

And lastly, I never trust a business whose email address is a hotmail address, or a yahoo address, or any other type of address like that. It's usually a clue to an unreliable company if they don't even have email through their website.
