Hospital Alert code??!

Question:

Hospital Alert code??

Whilst in hospital recently, I noticed on the nurses screen on the ward that in the "alert" column next to my name was a red "R". Does anyone know what that means?

Answers:

It could mean you have an allergy to a specific drug such as penicillin, or a the worst case scenario is that you have a contagious virus such as MRSA. You have the right to ask to know about this, you could write to the consultant who you were under and put the same question to him, which is cheaper than asking for copies of your medical records. I hope this helps.
