How long does it take for a hemroid to go away?!

Question:

How long does it take for a hemroid to go away?

I've had one for two days now. It doesn't hurt but it is still uncomfortable. I have upped my fiber intake so when should it go away. It's not big but still weird.

Answers:

Hemorrhoids don't ever go away unless there is some type of surgical intervention. The inflammation and swelling can subside so that they are less painful, but once they appear, they are there forever. There are many creams and suppositories on the market for hemorrhoids. If they are external, a cream or ointment can be used. Internal hemorrhoids respond better to suppositories.

Keep your bottom really clean. Use Tucks or another type of premoistened wipe after a bowel movement, and re-apply the hemorrhoid medication. You can soak in a hot tub or take a sitz bath to help soothe them. In several days, the inflammation should subside.

Try not to get constipated or to strain when you have a bowel movement, as that tends to irritate them.
