I waited once until my thermometer hit 105. Big mistake. It took forever to get the fever down, and I think that was a very dangerous thing to do. Better safe than sorry.
Can't you call your doctor and let him decide what is too high? If your fever is very sudden, you might want to call the emergency room, but usually when these things happen, I try to call my family doctor first and see what he recommends based on the other symptoms. All doctors have people answering their phones on off hours and they will call you back if you are one of their patients. Just do it now so you don't end up calling them at midnight.
