When stretching your ears, is dead stretching a bad idea?!

Question:

When stretching your ears, is dead stretching a bad idea?

So far I have done this up to 10g/2.4mm, but I was recently reading about dead stretching verses tapering and was wondering can dead stretching cause any sort of damage?

This is about as high as I want to go, I was just unsure if I have damaged my ears. And I have gone back to 12g about 3 times now... I haven't noticed any damage but was unsure if it would happen eventually.

Answers:

not really providing you take your time

and remember once strech there is no going back as i had an 10mm hole and when i was unable 2 put something in my ear the hole tryed to heal but because it can it caused the skin to fold at the back of my ear (making a doughnut shape) and leaving the hole about 2.6mm
