Swollen Glands?!

Question:

Swollen Glands?

I have a lump under the right side of my jaw (almost feels like a marble or something...you cant see it, you can only feel it). When I touch it, it has a little pain almost like how a bruise feels. Does this sound like a swollen gland? I never had them before. Do they go away on their own or do you need medication? I gauged my ears 4 days ago an I been keeping them clean, do u think thats wat caused it?. Thanks for all the help.

Answers:

It sounds like a swollen gland. The 'gland' refered to is actually a lymph node. If you feel along your jaw bone - right where the corner is under your ear - you have a set of lymph nodes right under there & those are what are usually referred to as 'swollen glands'. They are usually caused by a cold or infection of some sort. If you are feeling otherwise fine, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just keep your eye on it... if it doesn't go away in a week or so think about going to the doc.
