Question:

How much does it cost for a course of antibiotics (to clear up an infected toenail) in the UK?

Answers:

Antibiotics are ONLY available on prescription in the UK. You will have to get a prescription from a doctor. I think prescriptions are £6.85 per item now, they were £6.65 when I left my pharmacy job last September. They rise every fiscal year. That's if you get an NHS prescription. If you're not a British citizen, you'll have to pay a private prescription cost. Depending on the drug, this can be less than an NHS prescription cost, or very, very much more.

However, unless you have been told by a medically qualified person that it is a bacterial infection, antibiotics will not help. It is probably a fungal infection, and you can buy antifungal creams over the counter for about £4.
