Is this a side effect from taking beta-blockers?!

Question:

Is this a side effect from taking beta-blockers?

I posted a question a while ago asking about people's experiences of taking Propranolol Hydrochloride. I started taking them 2 weeks ago with no adverse reactions 'til now. During a walk I felt light headed, very hot and unsteady on my feet. It was only 15° or 16° so it wasn't anything to do with the heat. Last night it happened again after cutting the grass but I felt a lot worse. I had to lie down for 2 hours.

I assummed that if I was going to have side effects it would happen soon after I started taking the pills not 2 weeks after.

Is it the pills that are making me ill?

I've made an appointment with the doctor for tomorrow. Will let you know how I get on.

Answers:

Propranolol is normally prescribed for anxiety. However it will also have effects on your heart rate and blood pressure and will limit the amount of exercise you can do.

The symptoms that you describe sound like they are precipitated by exercise and are faint like in nature. This does sound like the propranolol has caused them. I would go and see your GP.
