Is my recent lack of energy due to quitting smoking?!
Question:
Is my recent lack of energy due to quitting smoking?
I have recently quit smoking and have found that all I want to do is sleep. Obviously the nicotine was a stimulant that I no longer have in my system but WHAT CAN I DO to get energy again?
Answers:
I quit cold turkey five months ago. It actually gets harder at the three month mark, I've found.
Here's my two-part solution on energy levels:
First of all, watch how you eat. If you reduce carbs, you will find that your energy level stays incredibly consistent all day. That's an amazing feeling. I recommend the South Beach diet's approach. Even if you don't need to lose weight, look into it for the right balance of food types.
Having a steady energy level is half the battle.
Second, a nice big booster that works a full twenty-four hours is some exercise. But I hate exercise. So I go swimming every morning. Not a whole lot: about 16 lengths of the pool. It makes me feel energized and relaxed at the same time, and works for a full day.
And occasionally, when I can't be bothered to be good, I chug coffee and munch on cake all day long. That's the other two-part solution, and it can be fun, in moderation.
