When should we get our hopes up?!

Question:

When should we get our hopes up?

The hubby and me have been ttc for literally one month, i.e my last period was around the 16th of June and we started trying as soon as it was over. I am due on again around next monday. I have been having quite a few symptoms, for example extreme tiredness and sore boobs so we decided to get a hpt. We used First Response because obvioulsy I am not late or anything yet. It showed positve. The box says that it detects hormone levels typical of pregnancy in 69% of women four days before their expected period and it is now about 5 days before mine. The box also says that if it shows negative obviously you may not be pregnant or you have not got enough pregancy hormone yet , but it doesn't mention anything about false positives. Is this possible?
I know I should wait until next week when I should have my period, I just wondered if anyone else has been in a similar situation.
Thank you xx

Answers:

A hormonal pregnancy test detects a hormone that is only released by the body when pregnant. It's possible to have a false negative whereby the levels of this hormone ( can't for the life of me remember the name of it) are too low for detection, however if the test is showing positive it's because the hormone is present. There are no false positives!!!
Congratulations and the very best of luck
