Ok so my husband is on the bathroom floor......?!

Question:

Ok so my husband is on the bathroom floor......?

He went out tonight with his friends (which he never does) and came home drunk (which I dont mind because he never does). He had 6 beer and never gets sick when drinking beer, only vodka. He told me that he only drank beer and I called his friend and he confirmed it. He has a few nachos.

He has now been in the bathroom for 2 hours thorwing up and now refuses to move because his stomach hurts and says he is going to sleep on the floor??

He never drinks and I don't know how to deal with this?? Someone help!!!

Answers:

He seems OK, by what you are describing. He is vomiting to get the alcohol out of his system. If he doesn't drink much, then he probably isn't used to the amount of beer he drank, or the amount he drank in a certain space of time.
Let him sleep on the bathroom floor, if he vomited hard, then his stomach probably does hurt. Make sure he sleeps on his stomach - that way if he vomits in his sleep, he won't suffocate on it. You may want to put a sheet or blanket in the bathroom with him, because he will get cold, as alcohol depresses the central nervous system.
Don't worry, he should be fine. You may want to set your alarm, and wake him up in a couple of hours, Just to make sure he is OK.
Food Poisoning is something to think about, but the doctors I work for say that usually food poisoning doesn't "attack" for about 24 hours. So did he eat something different from you 24 hours ago? If he continues to vomit or have dry heaves, you should get him to the ER. If the vomiting or dry heaves has subsided, keep an eye on him, but let him sleep.
Good Luck.
