Too much sleep?!

Question:

Too much sleep?

I sleep at about 2:30-3:00 A.M. and sometimes up to 4:00 A.M. Well, I always sleep for like 12 hours. I wake up sometimes and then I'm too lazy so I go back to sleep. How do I not be so lazy and just stay awake instead of going back to sleep? And is too much sleep bad? Would it possibly kill me? I turned 13 on the 8th of May.

Huh? Are you saying swimming will make your body weak and your eyes tired? Well, maybe I AM spending too much time on the comp and watching tv. Well, I guess its time to be more active!

No, it's summer time right now and usually I get 7-8 hours of sleep during school year. So Lynn, you're saying I'm dumb now? For all the sleep I'm getting? Haha, just kidding. But not really.

Answers:

Getting too much sleep won't kill you. But 12 hours is a little extreme. 9-10 should be plenty! Most people get by on 7-8 hours a night. But every body is different. A good way to wake yourself up and stay up, is to set you alarm clock for 10 hours. Set the clock across the room, and don't get back in bed !! Go jump in the shower. If you're wide awake all day, try setting your alarm clock for 9 hours. That way you can figure out exactly how much sleep you really require a night. Sleeping 12 hours is just going to make you tired. It's really too much. You might find that all you need is 7 hours. My husband gets by on 5-6 hours a night. You know they say that the smarter you are, the less sleep you need... :) -L
