Why do they make it so embarrassing to go to the doctor?
am i the only person that is embarrased to go to the doctor? i have been having some...inconsistencies in my health lately (urinating, and things to that effect) and i need to see a doctor. i am afraid it could be an infection, some disease or worse an STD. but i am nervous, to call and talk to a receptionist and tell her i need my penis checked, to have my doctor perform the tests, ask about my sexual history, and to tell my mother why she got an insurance bill. why do things have to be so uncomfortable when dealing with this type of situation?

Noone at the doctor's office is trying to embarass you. Trust me, they have better things to worry about than humiliating their patients. The problem isn't the doctor's office. It is YOU being afraid to go. You need to, you don't know what is wrong and it can only get worse.
Tell your mother you had a urinary tract infection. Seh doesn't have to know you have an STD if that is what it is. There are patient confidentiality laws that protect your privacy, even from your mother.
And don't worry about anyone seeing your penis, trust me, they've seen more..yours isn't that special that they'll take pictures of it for the New England Journal of Medicine.
