Medicaid is state specific?!

Question:

Medicaid is state specific?

ok so my daughter fell and cut herself today, after going to the hospital and getting 3 stitches,i went to walgreens and tried to fill her rx but they told me the medicaid voucher i gave they couldnt take because it is state specific, i had no idea... now what do i do, i am flat broke and will be till payday <friday> she needs her antibiotics now

Answers:

Medicaid is indeed state specific. Each state has its own rules and regulations and each medicaid program is only good for that state. Each state also has lists of what drugs are covered and what are not. There is no way to get around the fact that out of state medicaid is not valid at drugstores. I am a pharmacist and have been dealing with this for 30 years.
