Chest pain?!

Question:

Chest pain?

I went to the hospital this past fall for serious pain in my sternum (it was so painful that I couldn't eat). They told me that it was gastritus and gave me medication to stop the production of acid in my stomach. I did go to my doctor before that and the prescription he gave me made the pain worse. It's been about 8months and I get the pain back every once in a while, but not as severe. I'm afraid it'll come back, does anyone know of problems like this?

I don't think it has much to do with my eating habits. I don't eat spicy foods, and a lot of dairy foods don't agree with me either. PS. I don't have any medical insurance, so the dr is out of the question. I was just curious as to what it could be, and if it could be a chronic problem.

Also when I went to the hospital, they did a barium x-ray. And told me they didn't know what was causing me so much pain.

Answers:

it could be several things, either digestive, heart, or stress. yours sounds like Acid reflux, but the meds should be able to calm the pain. if it is digestive it could be

1. acid reflux
2. hiatal Hernia
3. gallbladder problems
4. ulcers
5. IBS

if this pain persists ask the doc to rule out these matters

also ask for an EKG for heart, just to be on the safe side, also stress and anxiety causes chronic heartburn.
