I feel you're pain my friend.

I've been diagnosed with Insomnia about...2 years ago during the summer. It began as simply not being able to lose consciousness even in my weariest states, but occasionally falling asleep here or there. Eventually I was left completely unable to fall asleep at all and would spend up to 5 nights a week staring at the ceiling and slipping slowly into insanity. Lots of fun really.

Honestly, It's more than just "not being able to sleep" as someone earlier stated. Eventually, after 6 or 7 (seven is said to be extremely dangerous given that you can drop out at any time) you can begin to experience things that are not actually happening as the normal river of thoughts in you mind struggles to pour around the monumental obstruction that's fallen into your normal flow. You can begin to hear things, and see things.

For instance, I myself would hear babies crying and women wailing softly outside my window at night. Eventually I was imagining I heard the Porcelain mask that hangs in my room speaking and quoting TS Eliot's poetry to me.

It's some freaky ****. I was prescribed medicine but had an allergic reaction to it.

I asked around looking for some people who had insomnia who could offer me solace and share with me how they were able to overcome it.

One boy I talked to imagined a man in a green suit carrying a brief case was following him whenever he hadn't slept in several nights.

After 5 nights of non-stop video game playing, he decided he should probably see a doctor. On the 7th night of his insomnia, he fell asleep while descending his stairs. When his limp form arrived at the bottom, he had smashed his nose fairly well, and had sprained his wrist, but luckily it was nothing substation.

sorry to be so lengthy, but I hope I've helped. See a Doctor if you truly can't sleep.
