Someone I thought was a friend stole my prescrption?!

Question:

Someone I thought was a friend stole my prescrption?

A friend neighbor babysat my daughter and the next day I discovered that my prescription for klonopin was missing. Then to top it off, I went to call in my refill when it was due and was told by the Walmart pharmacist that they allowed someone to fill it a week after the initial presciption. They should not have allowed them to do this as it was way too early. The pharmacist told me to come in and he would pull the video of who picked it up and see my id to see it wasn't me. He even said that the pharmacist that filled it a week later should not have done this but was new. I also discovered that this so called new friend stole other items from my house, including a digital camera of my husbands, and even some of my daughters clothes. I am so upset and at my wits end. Could someone help me please..

Answers:

Hi! Went through the same thing a few weeks ago. First, confront this person. They are more than likely going to deny it. Next step is going to be to file a police report. This is especially important for your meds so that you can have documentation for your health insurance company. Many times, they will think that you are either abusing the bejesus out of it or selling it, but if it's never happened before and you have a police report, they can probably authorize a refill. Your "friend" will probably not be arrested, but once you get the video from the pharmacy you can file charges against this person, and I wouldn't allow them in my home again. My pharmacist and doctor told me that even if your own mother is coming over, lock them up or hide them. Hope this helps.
