Answers:

It depends upon what you mean by fluttering.

If you mean that your heart beats hard and fast sometimes, and you can feel it in your chest, that's called palpitations -- depending upon how fast your heart is beating at that time, you may have something called tachycardia (tacky-car-dee-uh). It's a fancy way of saying your heart beats too fast.

If that's the case, it's important to figure out where the heart beat starts, and why it's so fast, so that it can be treated.

If by fluttering, however, you mean that every once in a while you feel your heart beat, and it feels funky, sort of like your heart is flipping over, or it has stopped and restarted, it could be an arrhythmia -- that's a nice way of saying that your heart's stupid, and doesn't know how to beat, right, all the time.

Some arrhythmias aren't usually dangerous unless there's a bunch of them together, and some are really dangerous, even if it only happens one time.

Go see your doctor.

They'll put tiny little pads with wires on your chest, side, and legs. It'll help them to draw a line-picture that shows them what different parts of your heart is doing at a given time -- it'll tell them what's wrong it it, too.
