Answers:
I am an EMT-B/firefighter, and the state you live in dictates your protocols. Basically, an EMT-B provides basic life support, such as CPR, wound care, and stabilization of broken limbs. The only medications you can administer are oxygen, glucose, activated charcoal and epi pens (and in depending on what your medical director allows, you may only be able to "assist" with these medications, and not actually administer them). You are not allowed to establish airways via intebating, or start IV's. So in my opinion, if you are going to school to be an EMT so that you can work in a clinic, you are pretty much going to be a glorified janitor. If you do not want to work as a first responder, then my advice to you would be to go to nursing school.
