Is this a normal reaction?!

Question:

Is this a normal reaction?

I have a cousin who use to have an eating disorder. She would starve herself, then binge and then take a bunch of laxatives. We were at my grandmothers yesterday, and she had some laxatives in her cabinet. Apparently, they were the same ones my cousin use to take. It made her want to throw up. The look of them and the thought of them made her stomach churn....she said she could even smell them. It made her real sick.

Though she's better now, it seems her past keeps coming back to bite her in the butt (like then). Will this crap always haunt her? Is it normal to feel that way? Please, some info...I don't know much about this, besides how she tells me she feels.

She wasn't snooping through cabinets. She was getting some aspirin and those things just happened to be right next to it....where did you get that she was snooping?

Answers:

There will be an effect of any powerful emotional experience that one has in life. Over time it will lessen. A person can help themselves by not dwelling on or reliving the event if they can avoid it. Physical reactions such a nausea at the sight of something that reminds one of a bad experience are not uncommon. The major thing is that it will pass over time.
