Why is there ringing in my ears?!
Question:
Why is there ringing in my ears?
what is it and why ?
Answers:
Your brain produces it's own "white noise" to filter out repetitive or annoying sounds. It usually is not a single tone, but an entire series of overtones, to mask out the noise on that frequency. Then, even when the noise stops, the "white noise" continues for a while after, before it goes away.
If the ringing is not going away, you may have something irritating your ear, like an allergy or infection, or possibly just a buildup of ear wax. This can be serious though, so see a specialist, not just a GP.
