Non-Smokers, why do you not smoke?

I don't smoke. Saw too many people die from it. Plus, Brooke Shields Calvin Klein jean ads in the 1980's where she had cigarettes sticking out of her ears and nose that said "Smoking Isn't Beautiful" kept me from wanting to. How can we get the message across to young people so they don't smoke?

I decided really young not to smoke - a sixth grade science project that showed what cigarettes do to your lungs turned me right off. As an adult, don't want to pick up that nasty habit. It is such a powerful addiction. My mom died of lung cancer after smoking for about 50 years. It is a very ugly disease and difficult to watch someone go through. How to stop young people: Perhaps showing them really young how destructive cigarettes can be. Also since smoking has always been the cool thing - de-glamorize it and just like Brooke Shields did it for you in the 80s have celebrity non-smoking campaigns.
