Why is sweat salty?!

Question:

Why is sweat salty?

I am aware that sweat has salt in it, but why? What purpose does it serve? The water evapurating cools your skin, but what does the salt do?

I'm asking this because I bike everywhere and sweat a lot, and have trouble eating enough to replace what I lost.

Answers:

Salt is sweaty because you are sweating out your electrolytes. That is why you cannot eat enough to replace what you lost. You should try to drink gatorade. If you notice gatorade is a little salty because it helps replenish what electrolytes you have lost.
