What does "one and two-person CPR" means?!

Question:

What does "one and two-person CPR" means?

I’m interested in learning CPR and want to get certify in it. Is it true that getting certify at American Heart Association is more often accepted for healthcare professionals than the Red Cross?

When learning CPR , will first-aid be including in the class? Or can CPR be taken alone?
How long will the class take ? and how much will it cost?

Thanks.

Answers:

Most of the CPR classes are offered by the Red Cross though the American Heart Association works with the Red Cross to modify standard CPR procedures periodically.
CPR classes typically take 6-8 hrs and involve some first aid training and the classes usually run between $40 - $60.
As for one/two person CPR, CPR means giving chest compressions and breathing into the mouth of someone who isn't breathing right now. If you have two people doing it, one person will do the compressions and the other person will then do the breathing and the two people work in turns w/ each other to do the CPR. If you are doing it solo, you have to do the compressions, stop, move up to the mouth, squeeze the person's nose, breath and then get back to their chest to do the next set of compressions CPR classes teach 1 person CPR b/c if you can do that, 2 person CPR (which is 1/2 the work) is easier.
