What's the difference between a sauna and a steamroom, and what are the health b!

Question:

What's the difference between a sauna and a steamroom, and what are the health benefits of either one?

There's one of each in my local gym, and I'd like more information on them.
Thanks.

Answers:

An in-home sauna session involves more than just sitting on a bench and sweating. It is a complete ritual that ought to be done properly. The sauna room has to be heated to the correct temperature before entering. Bathers then add humidity by throwing water over the stove. Continue the session until you feel that you have sweated enough in the heat and steamy air. After cooling off by rinsing yourself you can re-enter the sauna and repeat the bathing session.

Steam Room

Saunas are not the only way of pampering yourself. You can easily convert a shower into an in-home steam room. The conversion of the shower stall into a steam bath requires only three components – a generator, head and set of controls. There are many conversion kits on the market that can turn an ordinary shower into a relaxing steam bath. A plumber and electrician can plumb in the water line and 240 V supply to hook up all the components.

Health Benefits of Steam Baths vs. Saunas
Both saunas and steam baths are known for their relaxing and stress reducing health benefits. A typical in-home electrically heated sauna uses drier heat and hotter air with a humidity of 10-30%, whereas a steam room operates at a constant humidity level of 100% at much lower temperatures. Saunas are said to provide relaxation and physical rejuvenation. Steam bathing and inhalation is highly recommended for treating a variety of respiratory conditions and detoxifies the body quicker and more effectively than a sauna.
