I have alcoholism in my family, what does that mean to me?!
Question:
I have alcoholism in my family, what does that mean to me?
Ive been told that alcoholism runs in my family, and I was wondering what that really meant. Does that mean my liver is weaker because of my hereditary? Does it mean its more susceptible to alcohol or less susceptible? Does it mean I just have a greater chance to become dependent on alcohol?
Answers:
Do not drink alcohol in excess. This does not mean you can't have one or two, but that is it. This is hereditary, but it also a habit like smoking which if you use the behavior long eneough you will become addicted. You only have a high chance of being an alcoholic if you like alcohol. This does not mean your weak but be aware of your past family history and don't repeat them, it does not mean do not have fun, it means taking responsibility for yourself.
