How many years does it take to become a physical therapist?!

Question:

How many years does it take to become a physical therapist?

I would really like to become a physical therapist, I was just wondering if anyone knew how many years of schooling it took?

Answers:

In the US, you must earn your master's or doctorate level degree. The structure of each program varies, but most are designed to be completed in 6-7 years.

You must first complete a set of predetermined prerequisites (which varies between schools) which usually involves some combination of biology, physics, chem, psych, and math. If entering a DPT program, you will most likely need to complete your BS or BS prior to admission. Yet, your major does not matter, as long as your met the requirements.

I suggest going to the education section of the APTA website at: http://www.apta.org to view the list of accredited programs. From there, you can get a link to each schools program and investigate their requirements closely.

Good luck.
