People don't try drugs thinking they will become an addict. It's something that, for one reason or another, spins way out of control and drags them in. Drugs are a very powerful thing and if done incorrectly turn good people into thieves and liars. Some people have very addictive personalities, which when combined with a powerful drug like cocaine or heroin, quickly changes the persons entire view on life. I don't know if you have ever done drugs or not, but its something you have to do to understand. Eat mushrooms with your long-time girlfriend and fall in love all over again, like it was the first time you met. Eat mushrooms all alone in a dark place, freak out and think someone is trying to kidnap you. It completlely opens up another world, which some weak minded people never want to leave. So, to escape this crappy world we call "reality", they overload their body with whatever their drug of choice is.
It's all a brain game. Drugs will take over their brain so that it is all that person can think about. They will make it their mission in life to get as much of the drug, whenever they can, however they can, from whoever they can. Relationships don't matter, only the drug.
