Why do people get really bad migranes???

i get them alot and i was just wondering what causes them

my mom gets them a lot, and I got them when I was pregnant. For my mom different foods cause it, like foods that are cured like sausage, and MSG causes it, because of the salt content. Also, we have a family history of seizure disorders, and my mom's dr said that her migranes could be mild seizures. Hope that helps!
