Grains necessary? Why?!
Question:
Grains necessary? Why?
If you were to just eat more veggies in place of grains and get the carbs/fiber from your veggies instead, then are grains still important?
If you were to cut them out of your diet (keep in mind you are replacing the calorie gap with veggies), would you be lacking in any important nutrients?
Answers:
Yes, unfortunately most of the B complex vitamins would go missing, as well as some vitamin E and other trace minerals. And if you are cutting down or eliminating meat from your diet, the grains are an important source of the other half of the amino acid needed to combine and form a complete protein chain. Grains are really important to a good diet, not only for the fiber, but for good health in general. Don't eliminate grains entirely, just choose them wisely and watch what you put on or in them.
