Answers:

What you describe is a retinal haemorrhage. This itself requires no treatment. There are many causes of a retinal haemorrhage and include diabetes, high blood pressure, raised intracranial pressure, retinal detachment, and retinal vein thrombosis.

Most of these however do not cause a headache. The only two that do are high blood pressure and raised intracranial pressure. There are many causes of raised intracranial pressure and your GP has sent you for a CT scan to exclude any serious cause. A headache caused by raised intracranial pressure is normally worst in the morning and when you lie down, and improves when you are stood up.

Do not worry, headaches are common, your GP may have been mistaken about the retinal haemorrhage.
