OMG - I just found out my 5 year old has to have a pacemaker. Any advice. What do they do.?

Read up on the subject as much as you can. Go to the library and check out a few books. Look for one or two medical books that will explain the procedure and what is going to be done. Also, look for books that have stories and real people testimonials and stuff written by people who went through the same thing you are going to. The more educated you are about the whole thing, the more prepared you will be for whatever might get thrown your way. Also, ask the doctors and nurses as many questions as you can. Don't hold back. Good luck!!! That's got to be a really hard thing to have to go through. I have a 2 year old, and I can't even imagine what you're going through. Be strong. Your little one will need you more than ever!
