What causes cold sores..?
I want to know what causes cold sores and how to prevent them? Also is it a form of STD.
Answers:
If it is in fact a cold sore, it is caused by a virus. Unfortunately, it is a symptom and can occur over and over the rest of your life(since the virus stays with you). They go away on their own in time, but can be painful and unattractive. Do not pick them as this will slow down the natural healing process. Some medicines are available over the counter to help with relief. There are oils (Vitamin E, etc) available that MAY speed up healing.
I don't know if there is much medical evidence to support this, but I have noticed that stress can bring them out more often. Also sometimes heat will cause outbreak. Ice is a nice relief when they are painful.
