Why is when I stay up late, I don't sleep in?!


Question:

Why is when I stay up late, I don't sleep in?

But when I fall asleep at like 2-3, I'll sleep in till around 3.
:/
When I stay up around 5(which I can't help, I can never fall alseep), I only sleep untill 12.

Our circadian rhythm is already set up after many nights of sleep and days of wake. So it is very difficult to reset in a short period.

If you are exhausted for just a day or two, your body will try to recover immediately with some extra sleep. However, it will not last for a long time, since the sleep/wake cycle will eventually return you back to your previous rhythm.
