what are the risk invovled with chiropractic practice ?

i was promised a 5 hour session that hopefully will make me feel much better! what do you think ?

I have been getting chiropractic treatment for years with good results, but here in Britain a study was recently released documenting 600 serious injuries and even deaths as the result of spinal manipulation. I also know a man in the U.S. who has suffered permanent disability and has lifelong chronic pain from a chiropractic treatment.

As with any medical treatment, it's best to approach it with an awareness of the risks involved, but these are difficult to calculate for chiropractic. If you feel that chiropractic treatment would help you, I would suggest that you be careful in selecting your chiropractor, seeking one who will be as conservative as possible. In my own experience, osteopathy treats many of the same difficulties, but does so much more conservatively and gently.

Finally, a five-hour treatment sounds excessive. Adjustments usually take just a few minutes, though they may be followed by manual or mechanical massage for fifteen or twenty minutes. But five hours? In one visit? I suggest that you visit some other chiropractors for another opinion, at least.
