Is it normal to have a cold for 12 months?!

Question:

Is it normal to have a cold for 12 months?

Since joining my new company last year I have had a cold almost non-stop.

The most I can go without having a cold seems to be about 2 days. Then i get another 5 day cold. Sometimes it may be hay fever but generally its a cold.

Its a big open plan office with about 50 people and aircon.

Should I be concerned?

Answers:

sounds like an allergy to something in the workplace. keep a journal and note if you feel differently on your days off, especially a long weekend or weeklong vacation. If you find that it points to workplace only, discuss with your employer and/or doctor to find a possible solution. It may also just be lack of humidity in the office.

Several people in my office experienced similar feelings, and the company spent $30K on testing, duct cleaning, and air analysis. All they found was that it was much dryer than comfort level. They made some changes to the filtration system and everyone is happier.

Good luck!
