Would you call this ocd?!

Question:

Would you call this ocd?

when things get hectic in my life i get exremely sick...dizziness...gagging...i go into full blown panic attacks...but because i am underage i am having a hard time getting anyone to believe me when i do go to the doctor (i've been to four now) they don't take me seriously at all they think that because they can't find anything physically wrong with me that i am fine...for example if i go out or to a friend's house i get worried that i am going to get sick the feeling is kind of like a burning in my stomach and i feel as if i could be sick at any moment but when i do go to the restroom and attempt to puke i have to gag myself which usually makes me feel better but i can't do that everyday this is consuming my life what should i do? p.s. i'm fifteen so most anxiety pills cannot be prescribed to me and i would prefer to not end up addicted

Hi! I’m so sorry to hear you are feeling bad. You’ve plainly got a panic disorder that can give you very real physical symptoms such as hyperventilation, nausea and vomiting. Try the following steps and you should see your anxiety and panic attacks greatly diminished:

1.Breathe properly - if you control your breathing, you control panic. As soon as you notice the signs of anxiety, check your breathing: breathe in slowly through your nose pushing your tummy out (to the count of 5 or so). Breathe out slowly and for a bit longer (to the count of 7 or so) through your mouth. Do not breathe rapidly or shallowly (in the chest area). This will soon restore the balance of oxygen and you will feel a lot better.

2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy! CBT is proven to be the most effective thing for panic attacks and anxiety. It takes a bit of work, but it is super effective. (After 15 years of panic attacks, mine stopped completely). You can take a course for free online at: http://www.livinglifetothefull.com/elear... It has been funded by NHS Scotland and has had great results thus far.

3. Try relaxation exercise tapes (progressive muscular relaxation). They really help if you practise often enough. This site has instructions on how to do it without the tapes (and other useful info): http://www.cci.health.wa.gov.au/resource...

If your parents don’t believe that you, print out all these answers and show them. Your condition should have been easily picked up by the doctors. Try my suggestions and feel better soon. Best of luck.
