Tired, achey, and difficulty waking up in the morning?!

Question:

Tired, achey, and difficulty waking up in the morning?

For the past few months if not around 6 months, I've had a very hard time waking up for work. When I do wake up, I'm achey all over and weak.

I'm a loyal worker, and never used to be late. In fact, I hate being late anywhere.

I've been on time to work for years. However, in recent months, I just can't wake up. I've set 5 alarm clocks, 2 phones, and 3 stereos every morning. I set them to go off VERY loudly beginning at 5 a.m. I always end up back in bed, even after turning off the stereos. I end up falling back asleep, and waking up naturally (or semi-naturally, as alarm clocks continously go off for 3 hours every morning) at 8 a.m.

I'm a few minutes late to work as a result. I've tried setting the alarm clock for 4 a.m. instead of 5 a.m., but I always end up back in bed at 8 a.m.

Obviously, I shouldn't get back in bed after turning off the stereos, but I'm not "awake" and alert at that point.

What suggestions do you have to be able to get up in time?

Serious answers only please.

Reposting. Thanks to those of you who had good, appropriate suggestions before-- different type of alarm clock and more sleep.

Answers:

Excellent suggestions here so far. I would echo/add:
- no caffeinated drinks starting in the late afternoon...reserve caffeine drinks for the morning, early afternoon only.
- no sugary drinks too close to bedtime (stop 2 hours prior to bed)
- no food too close to bedtime (stop 2 hours prior to bed)
- exercise 30-60 minutes daily...this should help make your sleep more productive...get your heart rate up.
- check your bed settings, mattress might be losing its firmness (change it every 7-10 years)
- check for allergies - these can make your breathing inefficient. If your bed is too close to the ground, raise it (a lot of allegans float at the floor level.)
- improve your body metabolism...improve your nutrition and include more whole-grain and fresh foods in your diet; cut down on sugary or highly processed foods.
