Insect bites?!

Question:

Insect bites?

I went camping last night and have discovered over 100 insect bites on my body. Not all of them itch, and some of them are obviously from a mosquito, but I have others that are very small and red, and there are lots of them in one area. They're round, and not blistering. And they're in places where I was wearing clothing. Are these insect bites? or could I be breaking out in hives? Can anybody help me?

Answers:

They're probably insect bites. There are lots of insects that bite humans (and animals) and maybe your tent, sleeping bag, or campsite were infested with them. Some are even so small they may go unnoticed by the naked eye.

Just wash well in the shower, and apply a cream like benadryl to help with the itch. They should all go away in 2-3 days.

If you have any that scab or itch really bad, really do try not to scratch them. Put band-aids on the really bad ones if you have to. Scratching them could cause scabs which could cause scars!

If they don't go away on their own after 3 days, call your doctor, or see your pharmacist for recommendations. The pharmacist is really a great resource that many people overlook. The next time you're in rite aid or walgreens or longs, you can go ask them any question you have, For Free! :)
