Walking is the best overall exercise.You should start slow and gradually work up to 30 minutes or more. It's best not to stop, and to go at a brisk pace. You should always be able to carry on a conversation, or you're overdoing it. The calories depend on how much you weigh. If you weigh 100 and want to maintain, you eat 100X15 calories. That means you would maintain your weight with 1500 calories a day, assuming you're doing a normal ammount of exercise. There are 3500 calories in a pound. You might have to get out the calculator to figure out how many calories you want to eat a day. You should try to lose weight at a slow pace, like 2-3 pounds a week.
